It’s Good To Be Back Home Again
REALTOR® Torrey Pond is a full-time real estate broker working with buyers and sellers throughout Gig Harbor, Tacoma, Fircrest, and University Place. She specializes in residential real estate and works with everyone from first-time homebuyers to seasoned sellers.
Torrey has lived in many different cities over the years—she was raised in the Dallas area, and has also lived in Austin, West Seattle, Nashville, and Salt Lake City—but today she calls Gig Harbor home. Being back in the Pacific Northwest is a dream come true, and she invites you to join her in discovering what makes the South Puget Sound region so special. Right now, just a few of Torrey’s favorite things about the area include walking along the beautiful Gig Harbor waterfront and enjoying sights like the gondola floating by and meeting new friends at monthly neighborhood gatherings and at the Gig Harbor Women’s Co-Op!
Being merely minutes to some of Gig Harbor’s best amenities and attractions is certainly a big perk—Torrey especially appreciates all the locally owned businesses and opportunities to get out and about in Gig Harbor. A few of her favorite local businesses include Local Whimsy, Asha Yoga, Wildly Impressed, Wild Handful Farm and Sweetwater Stem Co. And Torrey loves dining out at spots like Brix 25, Netshed No.9, The Gourmet Burger Shop, Kinza Teriyaki Korean Restaurant, Tides Tavern, and Hy Iu Hee Hee, just to name a few!
Torrey also loves being able to pop over the bridge to Tacoma; experiencing the unique vibe of each neighborhood is just one of the ways she likes to spend time. A few of her most frequent culinary destinations in Tacoma include Cooks Tavern in the Proctor District, Wooden City in Downtown, Nari in Fircrest, and Bar Rosa in East Tacoma.
A Career Built on Kindness & Care
Before becoming a real estate agent, Torrey had a career in the veterinary specialty field. Torrey had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles during her 19years in the field. She worked in hospital administration, human resources, and overseeing hospital operations. While she was frequently around the medical side of veterinary care, her focus was always on taking care of the people.
One of Torrey’s top priorities in her roles was to provide gentle and invaluable support during a difficult time. Among her many responsibilities included working with clients to solve financial challenges related to their pet’s care. Torrey also became known as someone who was always ready to jump in to find a solution. In the veterinary specialty field you never know what’s going to happen next, and over the years Torrey honed her skills as a detail-oriented multi-tasker!
What It’s Like to Work With Torrey
Torrey’s previous role in the veterinary specialty field allowed her to sharpen her skills as a strong communicator and a collaborative listener. Especially in the world of real estate where things can move fast, Torrey values promptness and knows the importance of keeping her clients updated. You can also expect direct and clear communication, and thanks to her previous experience in HR, she doesn’t avoid having hard conversations in the service of your home buying or selling success.
Making true connections with other people is what keeps Torrey feeling energized. With each new client she meets, her initial focus is on how she can improve their life. But her real purpose—that thing that brings her true joy!—is creating long and lasting relationships. It is also important to Torrey that her clients know she values diversity and is LGBTQ-friendly.
A Slice of Life
Family and friends are everything for Torrey. Spending time with loved ones is all the more wonderful when Torrey also gets to entertain, cook and try new recipes, dine out, enjoy some wine, and have fun at trivia night (you don’t have to be good at it to have fun!). If you head to Torrey’s for dinner, she’s likely to cook you up one of her delicious “one pot” meals, your favorite salad or a new bean-based recipe; she’s a proud member of the Rancho Gordo Bean Club! She’d also love to sip a glass of wine with you—maybe a Pinot Noir from Eola-Amity Hills in the Willamette Valley, or a Brunello di Montalcino from Tuscany! Needless to say, food is Torrey’s love language.
Torrey has two dogs and a cat; Carmen is a Podenco, Skip is a Greyhound mix, and KiKi is a calico kitty. Throughout the years she has supported the well-being of animals through a few great rescue organizations; she has volunteered with and supported both the Austin Humane Society and the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas. Torrey and her family have also been very involved with fostering and caring for Greyhounds. Over the years, they’ve cared for over 80 different Greyhounds after the dogs were no longer racing.
